Como si Fueran Dioses is the disarmed exoticized idea of Latin America.

It is about our points of interception between the modern, (Is there anything modern? Is this just a stand in term for white? Or European?) and our own Latin American culture. (Is Latin America too broad of a term? Isn’t that exactly what we are criticizing? Are we not criticizing the generalization of Latin American culture?)

It is important to make note of the beauty of our shared culture amongst Latin American People. Whilst understanding that representation is never perfect yet this should not stop us from trying to relate to one another.

CSFD started out as a cultural study of taking Latin American stereotypes from western media and either subverting them or exaggerating them, yet it has naturally evolved into cross-referencing different Latin American aesthetics/tropes, stereotypical or not.

CSFD is a snapshot of a single moment, neither past nor present. It was born in 2022 from the idea that our origins, (and the spirit that is birthed from them) find their way into everythin we make.

CSFD is a form of cultural research, used as a vehicle to explore the relationship between the exoticized portrayal of Latin America in popular media, and the founders own nuanced identity.
